If you’re a traveller that enjoy doing what locals do when you’re in a new town, then you must add fruit picking to your list.
As the weather has been so sunny this past week here in the Germany, I’ve been leaving my cozy home at every opportunity I’ve had and decided to make the most of it. When Neha & Deep said they were thinking of going to a strawberry farm, I completely loved the idea of some outdoor activity and we all made an afternoon out of it.
With me perfectly dressed in strawberry colors from head to toe (outfit detail in blog end) and a camera around my husband’s neck, we made an event out of it. *guilty*
The day was perfect. It was warm and sunny without it being too sweltering. It was one of those times where our phones and internet was out of reach. Just the fresh air and rolling hills of grass gently swaying in the breeze. As we arrived in the afternoon and Many people were going back, I was not expecting to find many strawberries. But oh boy, was I surprised! The fields were absolutely bursting with the ripest, juiciest, brightest looking strawberries and we managed to fill up our baskets in no time.
While Neha and me casually strolled chit chatting in search for the most delectable berries; Neha’s adorable son made sure to wash every single berry by bringing water from nearby tap in the farm.. And also poured some on all of us happily playing with wasser! Cute isn’t it!
In the meanwhile my husband showed minimum interest in picking the fruit and enjoyed clicking all of us in his touristy best avatar. 🙂
On our way back home, We stopped for a much-needed ice cream break. Although we enjoyed the challenge, eating nearly 2kg of strawberries before they go off was tough. We ate out quite a lot over the following few days and I froze the remainder, ready to be brought out, once summer is over (in next 2 months) and it will be nice to remind ourselves of the taste of summer.
