Timeless White Kurta

I think, just like a white shirt is a must have in everyone’s wardrobe, a basic plain white kurta is a must-have too! Also, I believe fashion is a way of expression where rules don’t exist and white is always a good idea!!

I am a huge fan of fusion and experimental fashion. Be it my sarees or Kurtis or even shirts, I love experimenting and blending them into ethnic fusion looks. Let me take you through the three different looks I tried recently with my solid chikankari white kurta.

#1 Go badass with torn jeans

Finding the right pair of denim is like finding your soul mate. You just don’t want to part with them. The jeans and kurta combo is an evergreen hit.

However, instead of wearing a plain jeans go all the way by teaming your kurta with a torn/distressed jeans. If you want more edgy biker look vibe, add the fishnet stocking and some sassy jewellery to finish the look.

Here’s the final look I created, shot right in the middle of the Chandni chowk area. (reminded me of MASAKALI vibes. . haha!!)

#2 Mesmerise with a pop coloured dupatta

Since the kurta is white, add a pop of colour to it by throwing in a colourful dupatta. Add any vibrant colour – be it a colorful tribal neckpiece, a bright dupatta or just a pop of colour through a statement handbag. Everything looks great on a white background. Everything!

Use all the different dupattas in your wardrobe with the same kurta to create a new look every time. Heavy brocade, tussar silk, and zardozi dupattas would be perfect for a complete desi avatar just like I did. Stick to cottons, chiffons, and light georgettes, for a cool casual look.

#3 Blend it with a western wear piece

Ever tried wearing a kurta with a knee length skirt or a dress? Trust me, it’s the easiest way to be a trendsetter. Wear the kurta under your strappy dress or with any knee length or short skirt.

I added corset waist belt to give the look a proper structure. And finally layered the look by wearing a denim jacket.

The trend of sporting a corset waist belt has recently gained a lot of popularity. Corset belt is one of the most versatile piece of accessory and is a great way to create a fusion indo-western look. Whenever, I am in doubt I add this belt for a quirky effect to any of my outfit piece. . whether it is a loose top or dress or shirt or even a kurta!
